NE1 feel left out on the whole Multi-player thing? 3 Months ago

I don't have much time to play games, and will fit in an hour here or there as I can. But it seems that with more and more games with multiplayer elements coming out I feel like I'm missing something.
The thing is that since I only have a few minutes here and there I never really get the time to learn the maps, or secrets, or even some of the more advanced controls or combos as some snot nosed teenager that does nothing but play that game all day. Nor do I have the time to make all these "online gaming" friends, and the ones that I do have are seldom on at the same time I am.
I don't have time to do homework for a game (like FFXI or other MMOs) . While matching does help a little sometimes it's just silly. I really love the way Demon's Soul has MP implemented, it can allow me to have MP interactions without forcing me to play for hours (though admittedly it's a homework game)
Am I the only one that feels alienated because they don't have the time to really master a multi-player game?

I wouldn't say I feel left out. I do feel that gaming has taken a complete 180 from about two years ago when there weren't enough multiplayer or co-op games. Now it seems like to experience the whole game, you may have to play co-op or multiplayer. But feeling left out is an over staement, because I like the matching features in games so I can play online quickly.

Absolutely! I loathe playing online because you're a noob if you didn't buy a game on day 1 and play for 17 hours straight. I just don't want to deal with it.

That's why a lot of games base the matching on experience and skill level. That way those who get a game later, say a month or 6 months, can still enjoy it and compete online. The matching in games these days allow players to learn gradually regardless of when they purchase a game. However, not every game has the matching options of the Call of Duty and Halo franchises.
