Imagine you buy a pie, but before you can eat it someone cuts you a slice. Afterward this person proceeds to eat the rest of the pie; the slice you have left is Wario Ware D.I.Y Showcase. Featuring 72 micro games brings, which is less than half a full scale title Wario Ware title, it has very little too offer as a standalone package.
With no story and simply mini-games the game play that does exist in Showcase is fantastic. All 72 of the games are simple motion controlled games that don't require the crazy positioning of Wario Ware:Smooth Moves and feel more like Wario Ware:Touched with a Wiimote. After your done with the 72 games you can import created games from the main Wario Ware: D.I.Y title.

The problem is there is little reason to do so as imported games look rather terrible on the Wii and the mechanics of precision from stylus to Wiimote can be lost in the import. The games on showcase though look great and Its actually the export feature that is a bigger value of this Wii Ware title. Allowing a user to take all 72 games from this to the DS game is the best idea found in this digital download.
The other feature present for importing games are free micro games made by big time developers, the first two available are from the World of Goo creator and the Cave Story creator. While the latter is a very nice micro game involving timing and not jumping the gun, the World of Goo game is just a plug for their game where you just tap the Goo on screen and you win. While an interesting twist to user content this isn't a reason to buy Showcase.
Showcase is a complete pass at 800 Wii points, its best features involve copying its best feature to a better version (Wario Ware: D.I.Y for Nintendo DS). The 72 games are great and a multiplayer mode in Showcase adds value but not much. Finally with no way to Do It Yourself in this version the game really serves only as a companion to the DS title. Showcase is only for the true Wario Ware:D.I.Y fanatic.
